Rebuilding Hope: Restoring South Sudan after the Civil War
The Green Mountain Global Forum and the Warren United Church jointly present Rebuilding Hope, an award-winning documentary film about the efforts underway to rebuild war-ravaged Southern Sudan. The film will be followed by a short presentation and Q & A with Abraham Awolich, founder of the Sudan Development Foundation (SUDEF) in Burlington.
The film features the lives of three of the young men, from among the thousands known collectively as "Lost Boys" who were resettled in the United States in 2001. As young adults they return to Sudan to discover whether their homes and families have survived, what the current situation is in Southern Sudan is, and how they can help their communities rebuild after the devastating civil war.
Following the film, Abraham Awolich, one of the 38 "Lost Boys" from Sudan who was resettled in Burlington, Vermont in 2001-2002, will speak about his personal experiences and will answer audience questions.
Venue: The Big Picture Theater, Rt. 100, Waitsfield, 7 p.m. start. Rebuilding Hope is free and open to the public and recommended for ages 10 and up.
